Is Augmented Reality the Future??
What is Augmented Reality?
Augmented reality (AR) is the live real time direct or indirect view of the real-world environment whose elements are augmented by computer-generated sensory input such as sound, video, graphics or GPS data. Whereas Virtual Reality replaces the real world with a simulated world. Artificial information about the environment and its objects can be overlaid on the real world. Augmented reality blurs the line between what’s real and what’s computer-generated by enhancing what we see, hear, feel and smell.
Augmented Reality is the future for computer technology where it is changing the way we see this world. This technology is mostly used in Mobile phones and tablets and iPad. The device is used to take picture of the surrounding and with the help of Augmented Reality (AR) software it adds more information to the environment changing the way user look at it. There are many apps using augmented reality.
The potential scenarios are endless, the business opportunities, unimaginable. AR systems can spice up fairs, shows and events; they can be deployed in stores, in e-commerce, and in communications in general. Well-known brands, like Nike and Nissan, are already doing so..
The main revolution is not in the technology, but in its accessibility. For, as all it takes to access an AR system is a device with GPS, webcam and internet connection (standard in nearly every tablet, PC or smartphone), this innovation is within the reach of all.
There are few limitations to this technology. GPS is accurate up to 9meters and it doesn’t work well indoors. Many times the small screens on phones are not enough to fit the data. Wearable devices like google glass can solve this problem. Also there is privacy concern that many people worry about as it captures data from surrounding.
Even with these faults in this technology, AR is the future. It provides in depth information that people have never seen before. It helps people to locate places, find destinations, learn about the locations that they have never knew before.
